Default bloody uni accomodation problem!

hullo, first time here and all that stuff.

im a uni student desperatly needing wireless. i need to order internet and get a wireless connection that will work with 3 other people in my halls. now...i know terminology and i adapt quickly and i understand. so shoot away with techie info. if i dont understand. then i have google dont i!

now...what i desperatly need is your help. i will be getting and 8meg connection. now, what router do you reccomend. im going to be using a fujitsu siemns xi 1546. other flatmate (main person) has a hp dv6000 (i think) the other flatmate has a dell desktop (cant really remember name) now...i need to connect all these through wireless. through what ive read, i will be needing a 108mbp/s router. a 802.11g as far as iam aware. maybe the turbo version. i know the normal G can only support 54mbp/s. and this is whats confusing me, will i need faster router or wont it matter. (i like my speeds by the way) distance of each computers from router does not exceed 25m. so jsut wondering if i really need soemthing with Alot OF HORSEPOWER. i DO use up my bandwidth. I will be the heaviest user. so all in all, im realy need your help reccomending how i should go along with my connection? thanks.

Go for a 54Mbps router such as the Linksys WRT54G and you should have no problems. They are cheap, reliable, widely supported and as a bonus if you like to geek it out there's plenty of good open-source firmware mods out there to play with.

108Mbps and 125Mbps modes are specific to certain types/brands of wireless client and are not fully compatible with each other, so the moment one client doesn't support the correct high speed mode (even though everyone will be able to connect) you effectively drop the whole network back to 54Mbps.

25m is pretty trivial distance for most equipment unless you expect a lot of concrete to get in the way, so you shouldn't need to worry about spending up big on high power gear.

Hope this is of help!

perfect....thanks. thats clarified it nicely.
i was around soemwhere and somebody suggested a MIMO router....blistering speeds and easy to connect...usign USB dongles....whats do you think of that...is the linkeys router easy to set up...i dont mind complicated (to a certainn extent) but will it be compatible with my flatmates's setups? so thats it, forget about 125mbps routers? what about MIMO routers? thyre out of the question too...i mean...i know thyre expensive...but does their price justify their easiness to setup or their good connection? thanks again.
