Default bypassing proxy wall

im completely newbie about the wireless networking cuz its my first time using it

im using the uni's wireless network and i had to use their proxy address to enable me to connect to the internet

i can use internet explorer normally but i cannot use the internet with the other application such as msn messenger

is there other way around to it or am i totally stuffed?

all opinions and help welcome thank you
