Can I use a DSL modem as a router?
I have a linksys wag200g DSL modem and router.
Can I use it as a router only and share an internet connection other than a DSL (direcway satellite connection)?
If yes, how can that be done?
Can you please further explain what you want to be??
DSL router term (in most vendors) means a Router with built-in DSL modem, while DSL (broadband) gateway is only a Router which you need to connect it to stand alone DSL modem.
DSL-Digital Subscriber Line Vendors
Service provider ---DSL Modem ---- Broadband (DSL) Gateway -- LAN
Service Provider - DSL Router ------ LAN or PC
In your case( I guess) you might have the Broadband modem, satellite connection (it should be equiped with an Ethernet port at the output) and all you need is a broadband gateway like ZyXEL P-320W or G-2000 plus to share the internet among LAN users.
