I have done a similar thing at home with a Linksys WRT54G wifi router.
One antenna is the stock 2 dBm rubber duck, with a parabolic reflector on it built from cardstock and aluminum foil. This covers the side of the house with the fewest obstructions.
The other antenna is a D-Link 7 dBm antenna on its own stand, connected in another room by a pigtail, through the corner of a doorway. It also has a parabolic reflector, built from foam board and aluminum flashing.
It covers two storeys and can put out a "good" to "excellent" signal, even through plaster walls, around metal heating ducts, and across two wireless phone bases on the same frequency.
Not knowing the layout and other challenges, no one can tell you exactly what to do, but it is possible. |
