I found it a little difficult to interpret the last part of your question, so I have two possible solutions.
The good way (but more expensive): buy an access point and connect it to your router. Configure the wireless settings as you like and associate both laptops to it. They will be able to communicate with each other and the internet. Nice and easy and very reliable.
The bad and ugly way (but cheaper): set up an ad-hoc wireless connection between the two laptops. Connect one to the router via Ethernet to the router. The one connected to the router will have internet and they will be able to communicate with each other provided the ad-hoc and Ethernet networks are on a different subnet. To get internet working on both laptops at any time, enable ICS on the Ethernet interface on the laptop connected to the router. This method is not recommended as it introduces all sorts of complications and might get somewhat frustrating.
I hope this is of help!
