Exclamation Connecting my router to my wifi

Hey guys!

First time poster, so thanks for any help you can give me.
Basically we have a free wireless connection in our housing block in Japan supplied by our land lord!

They have given me the password for the connection that just pops up right away on my wireless Dell XPS laptop and everything works internet etc but as soon as i move my laptop into my room it hits a black spot and i cant get any connection! I spoke to my land lord and well they dont really want to sort anything out as im the only one with the problem.

So what i have gone and done is bought a router ( PCIŽ Products _ We Network Your Entertainment ! ) which on that web page say it supports being a access point and supports bridge etc.

So i want to set it up to just pull in the free wifi connection and send it into my room and then into my laptop via wireless. Right now i can connect to the router via wireless and i can also get into it via a the lan port and cable and move around its control panel to change any settings etc.

But i dont know what to change or what to do to get it to send the wifi internet signal to my laptop?

Any help would be great!!!

- Luke

I dont think that could be done unless you were connected directly to the land lord's router or connected via WDS, which would require you to access his router for configuration.

The best way is to get the wifi signal is to use a USB adapter with an eternal antenna on it. That way you can attach a stronger antenna to it if it gets a bad signal.

You can use a bridge too i think, but im not too sure how that would work. I connected a D-Link 108G bridge to my xbox 360, and in the instruction it said i had to connect it to the router providing internet access, so it could obtain its IP address. I did that and it worked fine from there on. So, if the bridge doesnt work for you, try the USB adapter.

I was incorrect when i said it couldn't be done like that.

You can set up a bridge to catch wireless signals from a wireless hot spot, and have those signal routed through the bridge, to the WAN port on your wireless router, and to your laptop or computer. Your router will recognize the bridge as a internet connection, and will use the hot spot the Bridge is connected to, to connect to the internet.

I've never set up a bridge before, at least in this way, so I cant give any pointers...
