Default Connecting wired into wireless

Hi,

I have an AV amplifier that has a LAN connection capability but I do not want to run a cat5 cable to it, I have a wireless network, router is a dlink currently waiting to change out to an adsl router from sky.

What equipment do I need to make a wirless link from the av amp to whatever wireless network I end up having inplace?

I do have in my box of the past, a simple ap, network hub and would consider I am semi-literate in pc's but no wireless / network expert.

Cheers

Ian

Connect the AV Amplifier to another AP, which is connect to the main wireless network as a repeater. This way you will be able to see the AV Amplifier being on the same wireless network

I have never used a sparklan AP before, however as long as it supports acting as a repeater then you should have no problem. Your existing AP must also support repeaters, which most recent AP do.

Because your old AP only works in 802.11b, you may have issues working with your existing AP (Assuming it works in 802.11g), however you should be able to tell it to work in 802.11b/g and it should work. not 100% sure on this, will have to try it.

I have always used the same brand AP and definitely same standard (802.11g) if im setting up a AP with a repeater.
