Default Connection gone crazy!!!

Where does one start...

Recently I purchased a Netgear wireless Modem/router 54mbps. This of course was to allow internet connection for my Dell laptop. Set up was fairly basic and I had no problems with connecting my laptop on the wireless network using a D-Link DWL-G650 card . For the first 3 weeks, everything seemed fine connection was great and speed was reasonable. Now though, I have been experiencing some strange behaviour from my laptop. Speed has dramatically slowed down, (slower than dial up), when navigating on certain websites i receive a message "document contains no data". It take 3 to 4 attempts before i can actually view the page. These problems began to occur when I installed the Azureus client, to download torrents. This could be coincidence, but I believe this may be the problem, though I did un-install the software with no improvement. The desktop is operating fine without these problems. Is any one able to assist and advise how I can fix this problem..

hello,
alot of things can be the cause lowness of network. which hardware can cause but most especially software's application do. I think as an engineer u need to troubleshoot with all resource so that you can understand better the solution to problem. like problem of slowness of network e.g virus, harward not installed as directed to do, update of drivers not met for the prupose, e.t.c. check out for the likely problem.

I had the same problem after installing Azureus once, try making sure you are using the latest Java VM and version of Azureus. That program also used to crash my normally reliable D-Link switch (how I don't know), replacing this fixed the problem.

Try upgrading the router firmware and network card drivers and see if this fixes it too.

Well gentleman, thank you for your assistance.... I updated the drivers for both the wirless card and router, and instantly there has been a great improvement, connection and speed is perfect.

Thank you both!!
