Default Custom Captive Portal idea

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a solution to an idea i have. I want to be able to make an access point either on mac or pc either one that will make a captive portal displaying my own content.

Long story short, i want to present to a small audience where they can connect to my wireless access point from their own wifi device, when a browser is opened on their device it will automatically goto my content hosted on my laptop.

Hope this makes sence

Thanks

Implementing a captive portal on a desktop computer is a clumsy way of doing it. Get a small $59 Mikrotik RB740 and use the embedded HotSpot feature.

thanks for the reply, but i dont actually want clients to connect to an internet service. I want to use it for presentations with out the projector. So clients can use their own devices to see a single web page

Let me describe one thing I've done when doing a presentation with students using laptops.

I'll set up a simple access point. I'll connect my laptop to the LAN side and share a folder. Then the students would point their web browser to my laptop's IP address and shared folder and "start.html". That shared folder would have a set of HTML pages.

Is this sort of what you want to do?

That's what a splash page would do. Between typing in a URL and a splash page, the Mikrotik would be the best way to support a splash page.
