Default Extend wireless signal

We have two office locations, one on the 8th floor and one on the 5th floor of a building. We have the entire 8th floor covered by Cisco access points 802.11b/g. However, on the 5th floor we are not allowed to establish our own network due to security issues of the other tenants on that floor.

What is the best way to send the signal from the 8th floor to the 5th floor? Is there any hardware that can route the signal on the outside of the building with a receiver on the 5th floor?

Please advice! This is quite urgent and important.

Many thanks!

I guess you could try a hi-gain directional antenna pointed up from the 5th floor to the 8th floor, or vice versa.

So basically, there is going to be no wireless equipment on the 5th floor at all?

That sounds possible. If I have an access point with hi gain antenna on the 8th floor, what kind of wireless network equipment do I need on the 5th floor?

Thanks!

If this is the case why are you looking for a wireless solution?
Surely you can have a dedicated phone line between the 2 floors and connect a modem to each end.

Sorry, what I meant was that we are not allowed to pull any cables. They can't do anything if the signal from the 8th floor reaches the 5th floor, which is why I'm looking at that solution.

You probably have the phone lines already installed and it should be a case of just providing the jumpers to give you the dedicated link between the floors. Try asking the people who do the phone maintenance for the building.
If they can do the link for you do a search for "Ethernet over VDSL". The last time I checked there were units which could do 15Mb's Full-Duplex over several hundred metres.
