I have a laptop with a intel 3495 wireless card, I need to extend the range of this card to connect to a wireless point (I have permission) but asking them to connect an antenna to their access point is not an option.
I have looked at buying atennas but they all use the SMA connection which my laptop does not have.
I have looked at buying a wifi usb card of ebay but it will not support all my wireless software, i really need to extend the range of my card without purchasing another....
A suggestion would be to use an AP, you could set it up in ordinary AP mode or client mode. This would give you the ability to add higher gain antennas without the need to hack your existing hardware.
