External antenna for WRT54gl question

Will this antenna work ok with a wrt54gl?
Terra-wave 806-960/1700-2500 MHz 7/10 dBi Low Profile Outdoor Patch Antenna with N-Style Jack Connector

Need to extend my range to about 250ft or so.
Will I need to get a third party firmware and change anything?
Im still learning about wireless but not new to networking.

you will need an N connector to RP-TNC adapter.`WRT54Gs use RP-TNC

if you want to use the router as a router, no firmware change necessary. if you want to use it as a bridge or repeater - firmware change is in order

I was going to change firmware for the antenna options but dont think it has what I need. Im most likely just going to get a ASUS router and use my wrt54gl as a repeater.
