Default Help the newbie!

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and I was hoping someone could answer my question(s). I have just signed up for broadband after being on a hellish dial up connection for the last year.

Downstairs in my house I have the main phone socket, connected to it is:
  • Obviously the phone
  • The sky receiver box
  • And a telephone extension that leads upstairs to my bedroom…where I have dial up internet.

I want to install the wireless router upstairs in my bedroom, the phone socket upstairs is an extension cable plugged into the main phone socket downstairs, can I install the router this way or does it need to be plugged into the main phone socket downstairs?

Also, does the sky receiver box need a macro filter?

Any help would be appreciated, Cydonia_worm

You will need a filter on the phone only and the sky box lead. The extension lead will not need a filter that goes to the router.

If you connect a phone upstairs put a filter on it.
