Default hi - any help with Vodafone 3G USB Modem?

hi i just got this

I want to look at my billing online using Myvodafone at Vodafone Home Page

but to register i need to get the security code sent by SMS text to the SIM.

BUT i cant access the SMS messages, as it is a modem and not a phone!!!

I ve tried to put the SIM into a vodafone phone to try and read the texts, but it comes up as locked

Please help!

sorted now

if anyone has got one of these heres some tips

(there is a crap manual)

*To disable you content control - go to a vodafone shop. Bring with you the original sim card plastic holder - that is the plastic card that remains when you popped the sim out of. It has barcode which has your phone number so they can access your account. There is no piece of paper with the SIM i got telling me my phone number DOHHHHH -

*to recieve txt messages on a USB modem download you need to upgrade the software to "vodafone mobile connect" from Vodafone Mobile Connect USB Modem

Go to the bottom and choose for PC users

This is so you can find out your security code so you can register you account for the online services

This will ugrade your english "vodafone mobile connect lite" (which doesnt recieve txt messages) to the fully functional "vodafone mobile connect"

WARNING - I cannot use the lite version now even by clicking on the USB modem icons- and as such i cannot use MSN Messenger for some reason (except web MSN messenger) THE UPGRADE THEREFORE OVERWRITES THE MEMORY ON THE USB MODEM!!!!

Can anyone find a backup copy of "lite" if i wanted to revert?

*to force download of high quality of pictures - hold down CTRL button and click on refresh. The pictures are now much higher quality

If anyone else has got tips please let me know. A lot of this i found out myself - i am appauled that vodafone does include a fully comprehensive manual. I feel they have rushed this product out

Question

Hello,

I too have just got a Vodafone USB Modem. Could you tell me how you found out what the allocated mobile number was. There is nothing on my documentation that states the phone number and hence I cannot register on the website.

Nick.

Have u also tried plugging the modem into another computer?
