I'm living in the basement, is it possible to get wifi from neighbors?

Hi I'm kiz a new member here.

I have recently been fed up with this DSL connection my parents bought

1220.5 Kbps - is my connection speed and I have 5 people using the same line.

We can't change our service to cable because my parents don't want to pay the cancellation fee..and the contract is until December.

I want to get wireless internet from neighbors..so heres my plan and the obstacles:

I want to setup a Cantenna to get connection from neighbors.
I'm in the basement.
My window faces a cornfield.

...to get a good line of sight to the houses with Wifi. Use low loss cable from your wireless client (card) to your antenna (lmr-400 or equiv.) Keep the cable as short as possible. hope this helps
