Improving Mifi latency and bandwidth with amplifier?

I just got a Verizon Mifi and hooked up an external antenna to it. I'm pretty happy with it. I know it's capable of at least 2 mbps. I'm currently getting 1 mbps down and .5 up.

I'm curious if I hooked an amplifier up as well if it would be able to lower my latency and increase the bandwidth. Perhaps the extra power generating it can push the radiation to the cell tower faster?

Adding an amplifier will make the CDMA cellsite think you are closer and will reduce power to you, so the net gain/advantage is zero. Disclaimer: that is a layman's explanation.

Your problem is more likely cell site overload. See it if improves between midnight and 8 AM.
