Question Laptop prob when connecting to home wifi

I have a toshiba laptop that I have had for 5 years or so along with a Linksys wireless router (WRT54GS). They have always worked just fine with each other but I recently had to reset the router and now I cannot get the laptop to connect with the internet through the wifi network. I disabled security and that did not help. I tried using WEP security (which I always had) and that did not help. I tried all the normal issues like renaming the SSID, changing some of the advanced setting, etc. The router seems to be broadcasting but I cannot connect. Thoughts? I am currently using a desktop PC which is wired through the router so the internet stream doe sseem to be going through the router OK....

I'm assuming you've made sure the laptop is using the same wireless channel as the wireless router, and the radio is definitely enabled on the laptop?

If so, try using the laptop to connect to a different wireless network somewhere else (McDonalds?). That will prove the wireless works on the laptop still.

If that still works - try reseting the router to factory defaults (once you've written down all the settings on it!)

I did change the wireless channel on the router to try to clear up some possible overlap with another wireless nearby. How do I change the setting on the laptop to look for a new channel? The laptop does recognize the router since the SSID is displayed on thge laptop and it says the connection strength is excellent. It just says there is limited or no connectivity. Thanks!!
