Arrow LocustWorld Mesh AP

I am attempting to configure a Mesh AP box which I have done quite successfully. Flashing the operating system is a bit awkward if you have a large capacity CF card. For some reason the system freezes on allocation of SuperBlocks and you have to hack the partition table to reduce the size of ext3 to 250Mb.

My question is is there a way to install the Access Point software on an existing Linux system, that is, I want to host it rather than running stand alone. I guess everything is on the Flash Memory so can it be tweaked to be started up from another system?
