I have a neighbor I would like to connect my WLAN. The home is approximately 1/2 to 3/4 miles away, but there is an obstacle in-between the two, a small hill. I am looking at mounting a satellite dish with a Helical Antenna on my roof, pointing the dish to the top of the hill where a receiving dish would be placed and then using something to reach the house on the other side.
I'm not sure what type of repeater I want to use on top of the hill. I cannot get any Line of Sight directly to the other house, so this seems like my only option right now. And there is some tree cover in between so the dishes would have to be pretty high. Power to the repeater on the hill is not a concern, my neighbors own all of this land. I can get a LoS to the top of the hill and then to the house.
Also, I would prefer the network to be 802.11n to achieve highest speed for data communications.
