Default Long Range Wifi

Hello, recently we convinced our neighbor to update his Win95 computer and get back into the technology age. He for whatever reason refuses to get his own internet conection, I told him we might be able to broadcast our RR connection down to him.

The distance is about 100 yards give or take. I told him the router I have now is probably not useful at all. It is a NETGEAR WGR614v9.

I have no experience trying to make a router go this distance. I understand there is a lot of new things such as putting DDWRT into routers and making wireless bridges?

Thank you again for your time.

I would not risk the liability. Let him get his own connection.

Copyright infringement knows no boundaries. You know who's door they will knock on first.

Perhaps someone else can help you out. Delivering internet service is the WISP communities bread and butter, and not likely help you out.

Smile Long range wifi

Its possible to go that far. If you have a clear line of site you can use a USB adapter which plugs right into the computer. Then for good signal strength use a directional antenna like a panel patch or Yagi Cantenna. Point the antenna at you house and you won't need to do anything to your router. All the equipment will be at his place. Check out the company SimpleWiFi. They specialize in this specific kind of scenario.

Good luck!
