Default Looking for suggestions

Ok heres the situation I will soon be moving into a new duplex which by all accounts is 3 levels. The cable modem and router will be on the main floor. There will be a couple computers on the second floor, one on the main floor along with a Wii. In the basement there will be a computer, xbox and ps3.

I am looking for suggestions as to which harware would be best as far as Router and possibly a bridge for the basement. Should a regular router have enough broadcasting ability to cover the whole house? In the basement I was thinking a bridge because I don't have the wifi adapter for the Xbox (which from what ive read isnt very good anyways). If I had a bridge I would connect my PC, Xbox and PS3 hardwire to it.

I'm not looking to spend huge money but I do want good performance as there will be quite a bit of online gaming and video streaming going on. I also have some technical ability but I am not a network specailist. So somewhat easy setup is a plus.

Thanks in advance

best solution: run ethernet cable to basement
if cable is no no, then consider ethernet over power, somewhat expensive solution
wireless is less prefered due to all kinds of problem.

however if you are thinking of wireless router and wireless repeater, then one strong candidate is
Asus RT N16 as main router
Asus RT N12 as repeater, better to use DD WRT firmware
