Major Wifi Project, you will find it Very Interesting
Im building a wifi Tower which i'm using to supply a whole community with wireless internet, i bought a 15dbi omni directional antenna and a 24dbi directional antenna.I am thinking of putting the tower about 8ft above the height of the houses which is 9 1/2 ft high. Note the Community is Really big and im on a little hill which is the highest point of the community..
I need some help to construct this Successfully, i will be here to give all the info you need to help me out..
Please note that i want to use a pci wireless card on all of the client machines without them have to use a outdoor antenna..
My Wirelss Ap is a US Robotics 1908.

As you are the one who is going to maintain it you are going to be on a steep learning curve. Suggest you start reading:-
Although you are not setting up a hotspot you will find some useful info.

I will give you one more piece of info, another calculator.
Omnidirectional Antenna Beamwidth Analysis
You say you have bought a 15dB omni and although you haven't quoted the vertical beamwidth it is normally about 7 or 8 degrees.
You don't say how high your hill is, so lets call it 4ft.
You don't say how high your house is, so lets call it 9ft.
Your mast is 8ft high.
Your Antenna is approx 6ft.
Height to the center of the Antenna = 24ft
If you put this info in the calculator you will see that the lower 3dB lobe intersects the ground at 0.065 miles, 105 metres.
It would intersect the roof of a 9ft house approx 60 metres away.
When you factor in the attenuation caused by building materials there is a good chance that anyone living within a 50 metre radius of your house will not get a wireless connection.

You will really need some commercial equipment, There is a manufacture in Taiwan i use with offices in canada, www.zigwire.net i told them what i wanted to do and they sent me a comprete design at no charge !!!, And their equipment is 60% less of the Motorola canaopy stuff
