Default n router?

Mac PPC G5, OS 10.4.11 with .11g capability; Optimum cable subscriber.

Main purpose of upgrading router from g to n : better Netflix and Amazon movie streaming. TV/BluRay player about 50 feet away through apartment wall; quite often, Netflix hangs/won't continue.

Would purchasing a dual band n router like the Linksys E4200 provide better streaming? Any other hardware in addition to a faster router? Could I add anything to my US Robotics g router that would improve its streaming capability?

TIA

Yes you can add a high power AP to your router disable the wireless on the router and plug the AP into a LAN port.

At 50 feet you need to use 2.4Ghz
5.8ghz dual band would start dropping out.

The 800mW engenius EAP300 11n AP will give you more than enough range and speed. It will cover just about any house and even ahve good signal outside at 500 feet away.

There is a option to disable wireless on all routers in the interface. All you need is the wired portion to NAT and hand out DHCP.

Thanks again, j.

I think I'm going to have to find an alternate solution; the Blu-ray player is pretty far from my router and the signal must pass through 3 load bearing walls.
