Default Need help for wireless network

I am running a wireless connection with a Linksys WRT54GS for my laptop and 2 ReplayTV's, which is another brand of a DVR service like Tivo.

I'm currently using 2 Linksys wireless bridges for the DVR's for the downloading/updating. My DVR's are capable of streaming saved shows to each other, but I can't as though they don't stream properly(skipping/stuttering/pausing) and I'm guessing the wireless B bridges are the culprits. I'm guessing if I went to something faster, I wouldn't have that problem.

I'm going to upgrade my router to a new version as it has Secure Easy Setup as it'll allow me to setup my printer for a wireless connection. What are my best options for replacing the bridges? I'm a complete novice when it comes to wireless networks. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

What specifically are you using for the bridges (make/model/ver)?
How are they configured?
Are you using any security (WEP/WPA)?

Regards

Fred

The bridges are Linksys WET11's-one is a version 1 and the other is a version 2. I don't know what you mean by how they're configured.

I'm using WPA security.

I am not overly sure about the WET11 but if it is anything like the WAP54G then you will need to turn off any security. It generates overhead on the bridge. The other thing is try running the bridge in B mode only and not G mode. Whilst this does reduce overall bandwidth you will find the bridge operates with better stability.

You may also want to look at the sample rate of the data you are streaming. To higher sample rate increases data throughput. B mode should give you around 5-6M of data throughput.

Regards

Fred

I ran the network unsecured for quite some time and I don't think it mattered in terms of streaming capabilities. I thought B mode was slower and may have been the bottleneck in terms of being able to stream the video continuously.
