Unhappy Netgear - Is it going to be a problem !

I have just bought 2 refurbished laptops. A Dell and an Acer Aspire. I already have a very old Desktop computer. Windows 98. I have just purchased a Rangemax Next Wireles-N Modem/Router so that I can upgrade to broadband ADSL. Presently I'm on dial up. My question is, Is it a good idea to get the Rangemax USB adapter ( WN121T ) to go with the equipment ? I have heard that people have had lots of problems with this adapter. Are there any recommendations for a better USB adapter ?
