I have a question regarding Orange livebox. I have been using it purely as a wireless connection, however recently I have started to play Counterstrike online and the ping, as well as packet loss, through the wireless connection is too high. Considering I play on the desktop which sits next to the Orange livebox it is not a problem for the LAN cable to be attached to both. So accordingly I have set up a lan between desktop comp and the livebox using an ethernet cable provided with the box. However this is where the problems start as through this connection I am still receiving the same ping. I can also still connect to my laptop through wireless at the same time, and even though I do not this shows me that wireless is still enabled. If i ping my laptop it receives the same ping as my desktop, even though the laptop is connected wirelessly and the desktop is connected with the ethernet. Therefore I feel that the lan connection between my desktop and livebox is not functioning correctly as it should receive better ping and less packet loss than the wireless. I feel this is probably because the wireless is still active on the livebox, and even though there are no connections being made to the livebox wirelessly when i am playing, the wireless still being activated seems to mess with the lan connection to the desktop.
I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions about how to rectify this problem, as in disabling the wireless connectivity of the livebox so that it just acts as a wired connection. However, I do want to be able to use my laptop wirelessly at certain occasions, so the wireless needs to have the capability to be renabled.
