Default Question on repeater capability please help

This is going to come out confusing most likely partly because it is and the other part is I have no idea. So, is it possible to use a repeater to get a wifi signal, alter it where it rebroadcasts as a separate connection (like a repeater bridge which does that), and use both to on one pc making your connection faster? The thought process is that if you are in a dorm with a shared network connection you can log into both to boost your speed. Becauseee the ping time is going to be slow and you are sharing the connection. So, in doing this you could HYPOTHETICALLY cut your ping time by half almost (since your communicating on the repeater connection and the regular signal simeltaneously) and double your download and upload time. If there is a way pleaseee let me know, if there isn't tell me and if you don't let me know. Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks so much

Any "store-and-forward" repeater will half you speed. You're better off just having a one hop direct connection to the wireless access point.

this thread describes an "in band" repeater. mine has worked for years:

another possibility is a "cross band" repeater:

2.4 gHz wireless router > 2.4 gHz bridge > 5.8 gHz AP > clients

what wbeasley describes would require behind the scenes cooperation between two or more access points, operated by a central controller. the receiving end would require similar centrally controlled cooperation. what wbeasley describes is part of 802.11n
