Default Router bandwidth / throughput

Does having many users on the same router accessing the internet decrease bandwidth of the home network to transfer files between computers. I have wireless G router.

"accessing the internet" is "using the network"

Does having many users on the same router using the network decrease bandwidth of the home network to transfer files between computers?

yes, if it's a fast internet connection, and if the users are streaming audio or video.

So you're saying that if the router is used to access the internet and the to transfer files at home on a the home network then all this activity uses part of the 54 Mbps of a G router? Thanks. Just trying to figure out if the internet bandwidth and the bandwidth of the home network are separate or they use the same "channel" Thanks.
