Default Routing & Handoff in WMN

Hi
What is the difference between routing and handoff in Wireless Mesh Networks?

routing, in any network, is the system for transferring data packets from one network to another. a router has two or more network interfaces. packets come in on one interface and go out on another.

handoff is something else entirely. handoff is the process of transferring an association between a client and an AP to a different AP. handoff only occurs when the APs have a system for communication between each other and software that makes it happen. proprietary software, running on enterprise grade hardware.

thanks Mark....
one question though: so in case of ad-hoc network there is no need of handoff right? since there are no AP in it and clients themselves form the mesh network routing data amongst themselves.
