Default So simple I can't see it?

Hi,
This is my first post.
I have an older computer running windows 98SE and I just installed an Edimax PCI wireless g adapter card. The card said it would play well with windows 98, and other people from Newegg don't seem to be having any problems with it running. To look at the card's configuration utility, it looks very happy. It says that the "link is up" and 100% for signal strength etc. I've got the green lighted checkmark in the profile screen and the green handshake in the site survey. The WEP key has been entered and the card appears to be functioning. The problem is, it can't connect tot he internet. I went into the router controls and everything is enabled. The CAM mode is constantly awake. I called Edimax and they walked through it, pinging and verifying subnet masks etc. They insisted it was set up correctly and should work (must be "something else"). The people at Verizon who provided the Actiontec MI424WR router were stumped too. ACK! What am I missing?
Thanks!
Val

If ping works but http doesn't, it often means the PC or router's firewall is blocking access to the ports you need, or the PC's firewall is simply not allowing your browser to access the internet because it isn't on "the list".
