Default TP-LINK TL-WA5210G set up help

My situation: I live in a house that cannot get internet (long story), but my sister lives about 200 yards from me.

There is a light pole right at the half way point between the two houses with an electric outlet on it.

If I understand correctly, the "TP-LINK TL-WA5210G 2.4GHz High Power Wireless Outdoor CPE" if perfect for this, right? I can mount it on the pole and bingo! Both housed connected.

My question is (I don't have the unit yet), would I set it up on repeater mode or AP mode or Client mode?

Also, would I have to "plug" it into my sisters modem first or can I just plug it into my laptop, configure it, and mount it on the pole to receive my sister's wifi?

Any help with this would be great. Thanks.

In other words you are thinking of WDS repeating. Good luck on cross-manufacture compatibility.

WDS repeating is good. But I'm strongly suggest you should use 2 Pcs of WA5210G Outdoor CPE on both your home and sister site.
Your sister site mode is should be AP (Access Point ) Mode and you are setting up to
WISP Client Router Mode ...

Sorry for bad english
coz I'm from Myanmar :P

UPDATE: I received the TP-Link product and it's working great!

The set up was a bit shake for me, but after calling the 800#, they walked me through it and BAM, it's now a repeater!

Here's the cool part, instead of hooking it up outside between the two houses, I put it up against a window facing the other house and the signal works great!

There are signal lights on the TP-Link and, out of 4 lights, I'm constantly getting a signal strength of 2-4 lights. Not to bad for just that unit mounted to an inside window.

I'm more than thrilled as to what I'm getting!

I wish I could talk all "techy" to you, but I have no clue about that. All I know is the folks at the 800# walked me through it. I do know that at first it wasn't working but then the person remember we had to go back into my computer and adjust the settings back to what they were before.

I'll admit, the instructions that came with the unit are crap, but I also found step by step instructions (after I had it working) by googling it. You may want to try that.

Let us know what happens.
