USB parabolic wifi antenna and my Belkin N wireless router
Okay all this is my first post on this site so please excuse if I don't have all the correct lingo... I am a newbie to the microwave world as well ...
Here is my first question: I have built a USB wifi antenna with a old direct tv dish that was already mounted on my roof. Hollowed out the LNB so the usb adapter fits nicely inside and protrudes from the white plastic cover about 1 1/2i inches. I heat shrunk the connection to my the usb cable and siliconed the opening so it is nice an wether proof. Other end of my usb will go inside and plug into my old inspiron laptop. My thought is to share my internet connection through the 10/100 card to my belkin wirless n router. Basically using the old laptop as a server. Will this work?? Will I have to disbale the firewall on the router?? Any help would be great.
For my next question: I have a linksys WRT54g-eu router that is on its way to me (free). Once I have it I plan on flashing with dd-wrt and using as a bridge. Does anyone know if there is a connector or patch cable out there to go from my usb male to the N female connection of the anteNna port on the liksys?? If not its not a huge deal I will just build a real bi-quad and source some lmr-400 and the right connectors. Figured I'd ask 1st though!!
