Default Using 2 routers for the same internet connection

Can you connect one router to another that is connected to the internet?

Say you have an N and a G router and want to use both of them...

Or does one have to be an access point?

if you set them up as separate networks: yes

if you want them to be one big network sharing printers and file servers: one router and one AP.

So I'm guessing it goes something like this?

The primary router would be 192.168.0.1.
The secondary router's WAN port goes to a LAN port on the primary router.
The secondary router would be 192.168.1.1.

192.168.0.1 can't communicate with 192.168.1.1 for "local services" or something like that.

Is this how it would work?
