Default Using Wifi Router as Wifi Reciever for Xbox 360 and a PC

I need to connect my XBox 360 and my PC to my fathers wifi network. Call me cheap, but I don't want to buy a wifi card for my PC and the Wifi Accessory for my Xbox (which I hear has nasty connectivity concerns). I stumbled onto this How-To( HOW TO: Cheap Wireless For Your Xbox 360 ) I was wondering if it would work as a reciever for my xbox and my PC. I imagine connecting ethernet cables from my xbox and my PC into the wifi "reciever" in my bedroom and having it connect to my dad's wifi router across the house. Would I want to get a Wireless "N" for the reciever? Any help is much appreciated. Any suggestions on how to achieve the same goals are also appreciated! Thanks all
