Is the WAN port a LAN port with ethernet crossover?
Hi,
Is my hunch correct the the WAN port on wifi routers is a LAN port but with an internal ethernet crossover? If so, can I convert it to a standard LAN port by attaching a PC to it with a cross-over cable (effectively canceling out the cross-over connection)?
No it is a completely separate interface inside the router. Some routers may let you bridge between the WAN and LAN ports in the web configuration, effectively making it a LAN port. YOu will need to consult your router documentation to see if it supports this.
