Default What is the intensity profile of a common WiFi Antenna?

Are there any pictures or graphs around? I'm talking about one of those straight line antennas you usually get with the routers. Like assuming Z is up and your antenna is aligned with the Z-axis, I assume that it's highest anywhere on the XY plane, right? Then what happens at 45 degrees toward the Z-axis? 60 degrees? I presume that at 90 degrees (i.e. along the Z axis) it would theoretically be zero power if there is nothing around to bounce the radio waves, right? But still, does it make any difference in a typical home setting?

Also, do you lose any power when you bend the antenna at 90 degrees at the hinge? This I presume makes the antenna effectively "shorter", right?

we call it an

RF radiation pattern

we find them at L-com.com:

L-com Antenna | WiFi Antennas | Yagi WiFi Antenna | L-com.com

click on any antenna, scroll to the bottom of the page, et voila:

"vertical" is a cross section of "Horizontal"

horizontal is a straight down from above view

Why does it have that "blind spot" at around 50 degrees?
