Default WiFi or bluetooth solution for getting rid of USB cables

Hello,

I am looking for a way to elliminate direct cables between a laptop and two USB devices. The computer/USB devices are located about 3-5 feet away from each other. I thought initially that a bluetooth transceiver (receiver/transmitter pair) might work, but haven't found anything. The USB devices are rather low speed (one is a motor controller which accepts signals through a virtual RS-232 port). The other is a USB HID type device which senses switches on-off signals.

I have thought that perhaps a WiFi based USB hub may work but wanted feedback on this issue.

Thanks
