Wifi connection help

Looking for some info on how/what to do to get connected to a local neighborhood wi-fi setup. Where I live there are no broadband options other then SAT. Although there is a local neighborhood wi-fi I can connect to only problem is it's 1.3 miles away with houses/trees in the way no direct LOS of the AP. What should I do or can I do to get that distance, and lock a signal in equipment/antennas that anyone can recommend or anything else would be of much help. The AP is about 50 feet in the air but with my Wi-Fi signal tester seems the AP does not have much range from the source about .10 of a mile.

wanted to add some elevations that I have also maybe will help. The house sits at 240ft above sea lvl so guessing 260ft to top of house no pole up. The tower is at 270 at the base so like 310 ft high. The highest elevation in the middle that breaks los other then trees is 280ft.
