Default The WiFi on my sony laptop vaio is not working

I have a sony laptop vaio VGN-NR32M. the internal LAN wi fi is not working although it was working perfectly before. When I turn the laptop on the green light WI FI LAN indicator lights up for a few moments when booting, but than goes off even though it is switched to 'on'.

An error message says' turn on wireless capability'...but it is turned on!!
Can anyone help??

Also have a Vaio, had same issue. Different model (VGN-G2AANS) with 4965AGN wireless chip. Backed to XP image because Vista had trouble staying connected. Installed "ProSet" utilities, worked fine for day. Next day refused to light "WLAN" on switch (but Bluetooth icon lit and closed by switch). Reimaged again (to save time) and OK since. Suggest you check Windows wireless for "disabled", in addition to the Sony utility. Apparently can be shut off at different points.
