Default Wifi receiver, wifi modem... internet in a boat!

Hi everyone,

I need your help to receive internet on my boat. Actually it's a Barge to be exact. I'd like to create a network inside the barge. But I don't want any 3G, All I want is to connect my network to Hotspots around.
I read that I could use a "Wifi receiver" like "The Pepwave Surf" wich alows you to connect to wireless networks and create a network after it. I don't think that Wifi receiver automatically choose a Wifi Network but if another "Wifi receiver" may do it I'll be very very happy!!
I'd like to compare prices, but cannot find any other "Wifi receiver" like this one. What do I have to look for? A Wifi modem? A wireless Routeur/Modem? A routeur that could be Wifi Client? What are the specs that will tell me if it is what I'm looking for?
There are too many names for theses things and I'm lost....

Thanks for your help

Moooartin

Ok, I've been looking a bit around and found a possible solution.
The D-link DAP-2553 is almost what I'm looking for! The Wifi networks research and connection isn't auto. And I need a switch after this AP to create my wired network but it's nearly there.
So is the AP the only solution to have a wireless client mode? If yes wich AP, Brand should I go with? Is the UI good enough to look by itself for the best Wifi?
And last question does it exist a router that will do the same as this AP plus a Switch?

Thanks again,

Moooartin

all wifi devices are transceivers, transmitters and receivers. two way radios

what you need is a wireless bridge to asociate to an AP, and a wireless router to generate your own onboard network
