wireless problems Hi,
If you do not see the receive level at either end then the antenna's are not aligned. The antenna's that your using have a very narrow band width, and high gain, you must be seeing the 3 db signal from the other end... There are several ways to align the antenna's. First off they must be line of sight... with no tree's in the path. Second the antenna's should be more then a foot or two above any building or tree's. So here we go...
1. connect to the router to monitor the receive signal strength.
2. mark the present position of the antenna, one line on the mounting pole and a center line on the mounting bracket of the antenna.
3. move the antenna clock wise 1 to 3 degree's from the position you just marked, very very slowly, monitor the receive signal, if the power is increased at any point then stop and mark that point. record the signal level. Now move the antenna until you get to the 3degree mark, note the power increases or decreases. Now swing the antenna, back to the 0 mark or the orignal position. Do the same for the counter clock wise swing. recording the receive level. when you reach the 3 degree point. lok at the recordings and move the antenna, back to the most receiev signal that was recorded. Lock down the antenna. Now do the same for the up and down movement of the antenna. Once done, move the antenna back to the highest signal level. Then lock down the antenna. Now do the same for the distance end. If done properly you'll have a great signal and no move down time.... |
