Wireless Broadcasts from a Client

I am just wondering if anybody could tell me what the different types of wireless (wifi) broadcasts there are from a wireless device such as a laptop, games console, iPhone, wifi-enables Blackberry etc... What broadcasts contain the MAC address of the device?
