Default Wireless Issue--Please help.

I have an interesting issue with wireless connections on my laptop. My wireless card was a Gigabyte MiniPCI internal card. The problems I was having with it were that my connection would show connected, but suddenly I wouldn't have internet connectivity after a few minutes. I was unable to ping anything either. If I tried to renew the IP address, I would lose my signal and all wireless networks in range would no longer show when doing a site survey. Sometimes, I would be able to see some wireless networks in range, but never the one that I was previously connected to, which of course was the one I wanted to connect to. There were times when it would connect just fine at first, and worked fine for a few minutes, but then would drop the connection. My laptop is a few years old now, so I thought that this was just my wireless card going bad. So.. I bought a new wireless card.

I now have a D-Link AirPlus DWL-G650. To my disappointment...I still have the same problem as with the previous wireless card. I have no idea what could be causing this. It is obviously not my wireless card, but something on my computer or some other hardware that is causing the problem. I have reimaged my computer a couple of times and the problem does not go away. Anyone have an idea?

A side note... When I am using my laptop at home, connecting to my home wireless connection, it works perfectly most of the time.

What kind of laptop are you using? I think it's a hardware issue realted to your laptop, not the wifi card itself.

YOUR PROBLEM IS BIOS RELATED. YOU NEED TO CHECK AND SEE IF THEIR IS A BIOS UPGRADE AVAILABLE AND INSTALL IT... THE WIRELESS SOFTWARE YOU ARE USING IS NOT HAVING THE RESOURCES NEEDED FOR MORE CURRENT
WIFI CONFIG TREATED CORRECTLY BY THE BIOS. hardware is easy to eliminate here.. if it works in one place but not the other..THE FACT THAT IT DOES WORK CORRECTLY SAYS THAT ITS WORKING RIGHT ALL THE TIME...
what happens is that the bios isnt reassigning wifi resources as it should..its old and stupid about wifi... if you do a bios upgrade and still have this problem then it is an INTERFERENCE ISSUE ...their is some high power transmitter in your area that is overpowering the access points you are trying to hit... their is a solution for that too... UBIQUITI SRC RANGE MAX WIFI..
4 TIMES MORE POWERFULL THAN STANDARD WIFI CARDS...
