At our college, we would like to share a 20MBIT internet connection.
The maximal range is about 30 meter from the router to the client. The building consists of concrete walls, so what router should we buy to be able to cover the the entire area?
Speed isn't that important, but ofcourse at least 20MBIT would be optimal.
Also we would like to have only one AP and it's best that it uses the b/g-protocol - otherwise we need new networkcards as well.
Is this possible?
Forgot to mention that currently I have a WRT54G v3.1 with DD-WRT firmware.
But it doesn't seem like it is capable of sending data more than about 20 meters away.
you will most likely need a directional or high dbi antenna, the antenna that came with the AP will not be strong enough to penetrate through multiple concrete walls. Either that or place the AP in a location where its easier to receive the signal, ie away from walls, metal objects like pipes etc.
