So I was all poised to get the Netgear N750 Wireless N WNDR4000 router thinking that all Wireless N adapters used the 5 GHz frequency. Well I found out none of my devices (a Sony 3D Blu-ray player model number BDP-BX58, an Xbox 360 Slim, and an older PCI card I think is B model which will be for surfing the web etc which I was going dual band for) use this frequency.
I was wondering what would be the best router considering I don't have any devices that can run off the 5 GHz frequency and since the 2.4 GHz on this model is not as good as other models I have been told (the 5 is better), I would like some recommendations.
I live near several US Navy bases (interferes with cellphone reception) and live in close proximity to my neighbors with their own wireless networks less than 50 feet away (as close as 25 perhaps). The blu-ray player will be downstairs and the router upstairs say 50 feet distance on the diagonal. I am looking for excellent streaming to said blu-ray player. I have read online that routers not suited for streaming video tend to have devices that have sporadic video streaming where the live feed will drop out periodically.
The 360 will be upstairs and will be used for Netflix and online gaming as well as downloading large game files (upwards of 7 GBs) from Microsoft.
Also thinking about getting the iPad 3 next year if finances are in order. Any guess as to whether that will be 5 Ghz?
Also would my 2.4Ghz cordless phones interfere much with reception?
I'm really at a loss for which router to get and any advice and helpful tips would be much appreciated.
