Wireless problems... laptop doesn't see network

So I just got a new laptop, has a ralink 802.11g minipci wireless network card in it. I tried connecting to my girlfriends wireless network, but my laptop doesn't detect the network. The network is set up through a Netgear MR814v2 wireless router. It is connected to cable.

I've looked at my MAC address, and added my device name and MAC address to the Wireless Card Access List of the router, but my laptop still does not detect it.

What could be wrong? Any other info needed to solve this?

Does her access point have SSID broadcast disabled? If it does you'll have to setup the connection manually as windows/your wireless card software will not pick it up automatically.
