Default Wireless ptp

Hello room,

I operate a small community radio and needed to have a studio to transmission link using a pair of Nanostation 5. The distance from transmission site to the studio doesnt have a clear line of sight so i end up having weak signal. There are several obstruction and foliage. What can i do or buy a new product that is capable of penetrating these obstacles in order to have this link work.

Thanks

Darl

5.8 GHz is a very poor choice if there are obstruction. Building will block it completely as well as wet leaves on trees. 2.4 GHz is more tolerant and 900 MHz is fairly tolerant.

Without knowing the distance of the path and density of the trees, it's impossible to make a best guess.

Thanks WHT.

The distance from the site to the studio is around 5km. We have been able to cut some trees along the way. I really need to get this thing done.

Simply cutting down a few trees may still not be enough. At midpoint, 2.5 KM, your "hole" to shoot through will have to be at least 10 meters above the ground and 20 meters across.

Panoptic technology makes some great PtP solutions using existing phone lines. If you can tone out the phone lines between the two buildings, you could probably use one of their VDSL devices instead. Panoptic Technology

The Engenius ENH202 has much better range than the nanostation I would use a pair of them

Keenan Systems Wireless Store - EnGenius ENH202 8,000mW EIRP 300Mbps 802.11n bridge

we have links running over 1/2 mile through tree cover with no issues
